Historically, one of the Ukreximbank principal areas of activity has been to provide assistance to the Government of Ukraine in attracting and servicing international loans as part of the State’s strategy for meeting the financing requirements of Ukrainian borrowers. Today, the Bank continues to successfully maintain its main functions, including rendering a full range of banking services focused on participating in the restructuring of the Ukrainian economy, financing the import of goods and helping stabilize the national economy.
Ukreximbank performs the function of Financial Agent in arranging, servicing and borrowing international loans originated or guaranteed by the State. The Bank is authorized by the Government to act as Financial Agent on the basis that it is the only Ukrainian bank capable of meeting the stringent criteria required by foreign lenders in such a role. In addition, from its inception, the Bank has handled the accounts of the Government of Ukraine and other ministries and authorities.
The Bank has been recognized as a direct borrower/guarantor by a number of foreign ECAs. Ukreximbank is active in the development of credit relationships with foreign financial institutions in order to attract additional medium and long-term funding for financing of national enterprises. Such credit resources are primarily used to finance imports of industrial and agricultural equipment, chemicals for crop protection and other related supplies from numerous international providers, as well as to continue to promote export activities of the leading Ukrainian companies.
The Bank continues to develop a wide range of trade finance products and applies a variety of schemes for supporting the export-import business of its clients. In this regard, the Ukreximbank’s excellent working relationships with IFIs, in particular international financial agencies (EBRD, IFC), is the key factor that enabled the Bank to deliver its highly proficient services to the national companies.
Also, Ukreximbank offers products and services under a series of special programmes with international finance institutions. Such include the Second Export Development Project and Energy Efficiency Project implemented jointly with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the Trade Facilitation and Ukraine Energy Efficiency Programmes of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Global Trade Finance Program with International Finance Corporation (IFC), SMEs&Mid-Caps, Energy Efficiency / Environment Loan, DCFTA Support Facility with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and carbon financing under the EBRD/EIB Multilateral Carbon Credit Fund.
