Ukreximbank Signs Statement of Intent with the EIB to Sign EUR 100 Million Finance Contract

State-owned Ukreximbank has signed a Statement of Intent with the European Investment Bank (EIB) to enter into a EUR 100 million finance contract under the "Ukraine District Heating" Project. The Project goals are financing of district heating and energy efficiency projects carried out by Ukrainian municipalities and public utility companiesaimed at improving energy efficiency and strengthening energy independence.

Key objectives of the "Ukraine District Heating" Project:

  • reducing energy consumption and resource use;
  • ensuring uninterrupted heat and electricity supply;
  • increasing energy independence of financed facilities;
  • cutting carbon emissions;
  • expanding the use of renewable energy sources;
  • strengthening the resilience of Ukraine's heating and energy networks.

EIB in Ukraine

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the lending institution of the European Union, owned by its Member States. The EIB Group has been supporting Ukraine's resilience, rebuilding efforts, and economy since the very first day of russia's full-scale invasion.

In 2024, the Bank supported projects aimed at securing Ukraine's energy supply, repairing damaged critical infrastructure, and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of essential services across the country. This brings total EIB aid disbursed since the start of the war to over EUR 2.2 billion. In 2024, the EIB signed over EUR 250 million in new investment for projects to further enhance social infrastructure and support businesses that are the backbone of Ukraine's economy.
