Ukreximbank signs a Finance Contract with the EIB for €100 Million

The state-owned Ukreximbank has signed a Finance Contract with the European Investment Bank (EIB) as part of the implementation of the Ukraine District Heating Ukreximbank, totaling €100 million.

The aim of the Finance Contract is financing of the investment needs of Ukrainian municipalities and local public administration and communal enterprises in centralized heating supply and heating, as well as measures aimed at improving energy efficiency and enhancing the country's energy independence.

Key objectives of the Ukraine District Heating - Ukreximbank:

  • reducing of energy use and energy resources;
  • ensuring uninterrupted heating and electricity supply;
  • increasing the autonomy and energy independence of financed facilities;
  • reducing carbon emissions;
  • implementing alternative energy sources;
  • strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s heating and energy networks.

Role of Ukreximbank

Ukreximbank actively contributes to the development of Ukrainian communities by supporting municipalities and public utilities nationwide in implementing projects aimed at increasing energy efficiency and sustainable resource use.

The bank offers a range of financial products specifically tailored to the needs of local communities - from financing investment projects to structured financial solutions involving leading international financial organizations. With these tools, local government authorities gain the opportunity to modernize infrastructure, reduce energy resource consumption, and optimize expenses.

Priority areas of support include the upgrading of heating supply systems, modernization of boilers and pumps, reconstruction or expansion of existing heating networks, renovation of buildings, and the production of heat from renewable energy sources, complemented by batteries and other storage technologies that are crucial for enhancing the resilience of energy supply in Ukraine, as well as improving the energy efficiency of social infrastructure buildings.

The EIB in Ukraine 

The EIB Group has supported Ukraine’s resilience, economy and recovery efforts since the first days of russia’s full-scale invasion, with €2.2 billion already disbursed since 2022. The Bank continues to focus on securing Ukraine’s energy supply, restoring damaged infrastructure and maintaining essential public services across the country. Under a guarantee agreement signed with the European Commission, the EIB is set to invest at least €2 billion more in urgent recovery and reconstruction. This funding is part of the European Union’s €50 billion Ukraine Facility for 2024–2027 and is fully aligned with the priorities of the Ukrainian government.дяку
