In late June 2017, Ukreximbank representatives participated in an international conference hosted under the aegis of the European Commission, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and a number of specialized UN agencies in Brussels (Belgium).
Over two days, representatives of governments and financial institutions from the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia countries, as well as of the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and other international financial institutions and expert organizations have been involved in a constructive dialogue on the steps related to unlocking private finance for energy efficiency and greener, low-carbon growth for the private sector.
Considerable attention was paid to the unique experience gained by the state-owned Ukreximbank, as analyzed by the OECD experts, pro-active stand of which enabled borrow more than USD 500 million from international financial organizations, being further invested into Ukrainian economy by means of implementation of more than 300 energy efficiency and renewable energy subprojects. The information on Ukreximbank's activities in the field of sustainable energy financing is available here.
In particular, the Forum Documentation indicates that Ukreximbank has been the largest recipient of IFI environmental credit facilities in the EaP & CA region, and underlines that “Ukreximbank is among the very few banks which has seen energy efficiency lending grow as an important business sector, and has developed in-house capacity to identify, assess and finance energy efficiency investments in Ukraine”.
Detailed information about the Conference is available here.
In his comments regarding the above event, Oleksandr Hrytsenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukreximbank, noted that the state-owned Ukreximbank is ready to go on sharing its expertise and developed methodological and practical instruments for financing energy and resource efficiency, and renewable power generation with its partners and allies, considering such knowledge proliferation to be not only a special contribution into environment friendly economic growth of Ukraine, but also an important investment into environmental enhancement for the generations to come. What inspires the most is that on the difficult path of low-carbon development of the economy we feel practical support from our long-standing partners-international financial organizations.
