The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) awarded JSC Ukreximbank for significant achievements in lending for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. The project with Windcraft Kalanchak LLC, financed by the bank, involving construction of wind power facilities in Kherson region was chosen as a Deal of the Year in 2019 – Green Trade. This award is presented annually by the EBRD to the banks across the EBRD regions that have achieved the greatest success in financing sustainable energy and continue to work towards the transition to a green economy.
According to the EBRD, with this transaction Ukreximbank has strengthened its sustainable energy position and promoted energy security in Ukraine by reducing reliance on fossil fuels as a result generating energy equivalent to the amount required to power 12,000 electric vehicles for over the year.
In May 2019, Ukreximbank joined funding of a large investment project for the construction and launching of Windcraft Kalanchak wind station "Myrnenskaya" in the Kherson region with a total capacity of 163 MW as a part of 39 wind turbines, transformer sub-station and power line.
"In order to finance the second part of the project, which includes purchase of 21 wind turbines and a transformer sub-station, the state bank has established a credit line with a total limit of UAH 1.6 billion with a final repayment date in 2025. In frames of total limit Ukreximbank has attracted from EBRD the amount of 25 million euros for a period of 3 years as financing for advance payment in favour of a Danish supplier, – said Ievgen METSGER, Ukreximbank Chairman of the Management Board.
